Tesla Roadster Production ends in December
We revealed back in November that Tesla intends using the Model S platform to produce a Crossover come SUV to appeal to a more mainstream market than their current ‘Lotus with batteries’ Tesla Roadster. Having officially sown that seed, Tesla has now revealed that the Tesla Model X will be revealed – in prototype form, of course – by the end of 2011. At pretty much the same time as production of the Tesla Roadster comes to an end.
Saab are saved (?) by Pang Da Auto
There can’t be many companies in China who haven’t had Victor Muller banging on their door armed with a chunk of Saab stock in exchange for a hat full of Chinese currency. A couple of weeks ago we had the news that Saab had signed a deal with Chinese car Maker Hawtai for €120 million in exchange for a big chunk of Saab stock and lots of ‘joint’ venture. But that fell apart last week even before Victor Muller could get to consummate the marriage.
The Rolls Royce Wraith has been revealed as a 624bhp V12 Fastback with 590lb/ft of torque and a 0-60mph of 4.4 seconds. Rolls Royce claim the Wraith as the most dynamic car they’ve ever produced and, even though it is still the size of a football pitch, it actually sits on a shortened Ghost wheelbase with a wider track to make it a bit more nimble. Rolls Royce has also stiffened the Ghost’s suspension for the Wraith (although not too much) for a bit less roll and added a bit more weight to the steering.
